Featuring Guardian Cellars
Come taste the wines built from dedication, community, and a story you’ll be telling after the first pour.
A cop and a reporter meet, fall in love
and start a winery. That’s the true story behind Guardian Cellars, and it’s exactly the kind of Washington wine energy we love pouring on a Thursday night.
Jerry Riener is the organic-chemist-turned-cop who became a fixture in the Woodinville wine scene—logging 40+ volunteer hours a week at wineries like Mark Ryan and Matthews before ever launching his own label. Jennifer Sullivan, a Seattle Times reporter living her dream job, met Jerry with a little “distrust at first sight”… until margaritas and a spirited debate about 90s dance music turned into something bigger.
When they opened the Guardian tasting room in November 2007, they released 375 cases—and sold out in a single day. The next vintage disappeared just as fast. Today, Guardian continues to craft small-production, powerhouse Washington wines—with the same grit, heart, and hands-on family spirit (including daughters Josephine and Jillian occasionally helping in the tasting room).
